Horror film "Curse of the Deserted," starring Kitty Cheung and Shawn Yue, will open nationwide on August 13, Mtime.com reports.

In the just-released poster for the film, the two leads float in the air with blood streaming from their eyes. The poster presented so frightening a scene that many theatergoers said they wouldn't be able to watch the film alone.

Having tried his hand twice at horror films, Hong Kong star Shawn Yue said this film's design and story are much more horrifying than previous horror movies.

Leading lady and Chinese mainland actress Kitty Cheung plays two different roles in the film, and she enthusiastically explained that the poster reveals the fates of these two characters, which will leave the audience breathless.

The film is about a writer who pens a thriller for a magazine, only to become entangled in horrible real-life events much more frightening than those in his story. There is a deserted apartment in the city whose owner has connections with a terrifying underworld. To clear up the mysteries of the haunted apartment, the writer enters and encounters shocking events.

Director Chi Leung Law has successfully directed two thrillers, "Inner Senses" and "Koma." He said the most appealing aspects of this film are the expansion of the story and the twisted fates of the main characters. With Kitty Cheung and Shawn Yue costarring in a horror film for the first time, he is hoping to garner more attention with this film than he did with "Inner Senses."
