Chinese circus debuts in Bangladesh

A group of acrobats from the China Circus made their debut performance in Bangladesh Tuesday evening and was cordially received.

The group presented rope skipping, glasses rolling and jar balancing at the Bangladeshi National Art Center in Dhaka. They will give three shows here.

The Bangladeshi audience were thrilled by the Chinese circus arts.

"This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh, and the debut performance of the China Circus is the beginning of a series of celebration activities for this event," Chinese Ambassador Zhang Xianyi said before the preformance.

Bangladeshi Culture Minister Abulkalam Azad said the China Circus shows will surely help enhance bilateral cultural exchange.

Zhang Yusheng, head of the Chinese group, said he hopes the shows would improve mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

The China Circus group arrived here Monday.
