The 12th International Architecture Exhibition
With the theme of People Meet in Architecture, the 12th International Architecture Exhibition, organized by the Biennale di Venezia and directed by Japanese architect Kazuyo Sejima, will be open to the public from August 29 to November 21, in the Giardini, Arsenale and various other locations throughout Venice, with a preview scheduled for August 26-28.
The main exhibition, People Meet in Architecture, will be presented in the Giardini and Arsenale, forming a single itinerary, with 48 participants including firms, architects, engineers and artists from around the world.
The exhibition will see a total of 53 national exhibitions held in historic pavilions at various city locations.
There will be two main projects, Architecture Saturdays and Destination Biennale di Venezia, Universities Meet in Architecture.
Architecture Saturdays consists of a series of conversations and discussions held weekly by architects, critics and figures from the world architecture from around the globe.
Universities Meet in Architecture will offer opportunities for university students to visit the exhibition.
The first woman to direct the Architecture Sector of the Biennale, Sejima has recently been awarded the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize 2010 (together with Ryue Nishizawa).
