Director Gao Qunshu's new film "Wind Blast" ("Xi Feng Lie"), which is hailed as the first action crime thriller for the Chinese mainland screens, will open October 28th, Sina.com.cn reports.

The film features a constellation of stars including Duan Yihong, Xia Yu, Wu Jing, Yu Nan and Charlie Young.

It centers on four detectives, each with a unique skill, chasing down a criminal into the wild desert, while at the same time fighting two bounty hunters.

"'Wind Blast' was influenced by the films of John Ford, Akira Kurosawa and the film 'No Country for Old Men'," director Gao was quoted as saying.

Gao's previous films include "The Message" ("Feng Sheng") and "Tokyo Trial" ("Dongjing Shenpan").
