A film version of the hit TV series "Struggle" ("Fen Dou") is set to start shooting in September, M1905.com reports.

Hong Kong director Ma Wai-Ho will direct the film. The lead actor and actress have yet to be revealed.

The story in the film version is different from the one on television. The shooting location has also been expanded from Beijing to Shanghai.

The producing company said the cast of the TV version is preferred by the director for the film, but he will also use some newcomers.

"Different from the TV version, the film will include more fashionable and comic elements," said Ma.

Ma is well known for his comedic films such as "Feel 100%" and "Dummy Mommy, Without a Baby".

The television drama "Struggle" was released in 2007. It follows Lu Tao and his strong career drive as well as his relationship with two girls. Upon its release it was the most embraced television drama among young working Chinese audiences.
