China Association for International Friendly Contact (CAIFC) on Wednesday launched an exhibition in Tokyo to introduce the contemporary works of Chinese artists to Japanese people.

Dozens of painting and calligraphic works of 15 top Chinese artists, including Ma Zhensheng and Hao Fengxian, are put on display. Traditional Chinese paintings are the highlights among the exhibits. The blue peony blossoms, traditional houses in the southern towns of the lower reach of the Yangtze River, and giant pandas are featured prominently in the paintings.

Liu Dawei, chairman of the China Artists Association and also head of the group, said the works could reflect the current picture of the Chinese painting and calligraphy creation.

The event, which will run until Sunday, is aimed to boost the Japanese people's understanding of Chinese artistic works and promote the cultural exchange between the two countries.
