The Piano in a Factory to compete at Tokyo Film Festival

The warm comedy "The Piano in a Factory" ("Gang De Qin") has been chosen as the only Chinese-language film to compete at the 23rd Tokyo International Film Festival, Sohu.com reports.

The film was helmed by Chinese director Zhang Meng and stars actress Qin Hailu. Qin is also the film's producer. The film tells the story of a middle-aged man, played by Wang Qianyuan, who is laid-off from a steel factory. To help his daughter get a piano so she can practice, Wang decides to make a steel piano by hand.

This year's Tokyo International Film Festival opens on October 23. Four films have been announced by the organizing committee to compete for the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix, the top award. The winners will be announced on October 31 at the festival's closing ceremony.
