Ronni Chasen, a popular movie publicist for some of the Hollywood's biggest stars and movie productions, was buried at a private service at Hillside Momorial Park Cemetery, Los Angeles on Sunday.
Chasen, 64, received five gunshot wounds to the chest about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when she was driving home from a premiere after-party for new musical film "Burlesque" starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. She lost control of the black E350 she was in, and the car crashed into a light pole on Whittier just south of Sunset, not far from the Beverly Hills Hotel, police said.
Police are in the early stage of looking into the case and refused to comment on motives nor name the suspects.
Known as "Hollywood's ultimate old-school publicist," Chasen had represented such actors as Michael Douglas, as well as musicians such as Hans Zimmer and Mark Isham. She worked on campaigns for more than 100 movies, including "Cocoon," "On Golden Pond" and the 1989 best picture Oscar winner "Driving Miss Daisy," as well as last year's best picture Academy Award winner, "The Hurt Locker."
Chasen also worked on the second film in the Oliver Stone/Michael Douglas Wall Street movie franchise, "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps" which debuted in late September.
She was made the senior vice president for publicity at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1993, and owned the PR firm Chasen & Co. and represented artists who composed film music.
