Zhang Zilin, winner of the 2007 Miss World pageant, hosted an academic charitable activity at Peking University on November 18, 2010, Xinhua reports.

Academic charitable activities that put people first are the latest concept in the promotion of Chinese philanthropy. The activity calls for more research done for philanthropy and government decisions on charity.

Zhang was awarded Miss World in 2007 in Sanya, China. "Different from other beauty contests, the Miss World pageant emphasis is on charity. When I travel around the world, I never forget the responsibility of a Miss World," said Zhang.
