China makes a hit in Asia Pacific Screen Awards

China's film makers and players made a hit by grabbing four out of nine major awards in the 4th Annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) ceremony held in Australia on Thursday.

Among the Chinese winners, the title of Best Feature Film went to Tangshan dadizheng (Aftershock) by Chinese director Feng Xiaogang. The Best Performance By Actor was awarded to Chen Daoming for Tangshan dadizheng (Aftershock). The Best Animated Feature Film went to Piercing I, produced by Lynne Wang. The Best Documentary Feature Film was achieved by Last Train Home, a documentary by Chinese and Canadian film makers.

Among others, Achievement In Directing went to South Korean director Lee Chang-dong for Shi (Poetry). Best Performance By Actress went to Yun Jung-hee for the same film.Best Screenplay went to Samuel Maoz for Levanon (Lebanon).

The Achievement In Cinematography was awarded to Sudhir Palsane for Vihir (The Well) of India. Best Children's Feature Film went to Digari (The Other) of Iran, produced by Mohammad Ali Najafi.

The APSA ceremony was attended by more than 550 filmmakers and special guests from across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe and North America.

Established in 2007, the APSA is an international cultural initiative of the Queensland State Government, Australia.
