The National Museum of China established its own development foundation on April 7 to further its commitment to art excellence and strengthen cooperation with international organizations.

The National Museum of China Development Foundation is a private foundation whose principal aim is maintaining and expanding the collections while hosting public cultural activities.

The museum, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2012, anticipates that the foundation will strengthen contacts and cooperation with domestic and internationally renowned organizations and expedite innovation within the cultural industry.

After four years of renovation, the museum reopened on March 17 with 28 new exhibition halls and more than three times the previous exhibition space. It covers nearly 191,900 square meters and boasts more than a million national treasures in its collection.
