Sunday's China's Got Talent or Daren Show continued to rise in the ratings according to figures from Shanghai, allaying fears the show would be affected by the arrest of disgraced former judge, Gao Xiaosong.
Gao, a singer-songwriter well-known for his campus ballads was nabbed by police on the night of May 9, and was forced to quit the show, after China's toughening of driving laws would mean a jail sentence. Gao was sentenced Tuesday to six months in jail.
Taiwanese pop music producer Chan Yaochuan was tapped to replace Gao from Sunday night's show.
Among the talented performers in the Shanghai heat were veteran soldier Cai Dinglun, now dubbed China's "Rainman," after he could immediately tell how many strokes in a Chinese character at a glance.
Meanwhile, 74-year-old grandpa Zhong Xiuquan impressed the audience with his dazzling dancing skills, and funky medallion-man costume.
