The second season of China's Got Talent (Daren Show) continues to break audience viewing figures since it started its run May 1.
In the latest episode last Sunday on Dragon TV, more of China's hidden talents strutted their stuff. Singer Grandma Dong, also known as "Grandma Tremolo," from Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province first became well known on a microblog after she covered Faye Wong's song "Because of Love". Even Faye Wong and Eason Chen 's wife, Hilary Tsui, became her followers. She said she wants to appear on the show not to be crowned champion; rather to express love for her husband who passed away six years ago. She's perhaps not the best singer in China, but she certainly has the passion.
Xiang Yanhong, referred to as the "Chinese Paul Potts" (a contestant from the UK version, Britain's Got Talent) works as a clown, but had always hoped he'd be able to sing as a profession instead. With a height of 1.5 meters, he is able to sing a high C note, which led to praise from professional musician Huang Shujun. Body-popper Zuo Jun who's from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region wowed the judges after his robot moves. His flexible joints cover the fact that he's had no professional training; he learnt all his skills from videos. He's the only college student from his village, and he came along to prove that even though his village is remote, there's still someone who can dance. "I'm not a genius, I only work harder than others," he said.
An Dong from Dalian, Liaoning Province, 39, used to be a sports acrobatic athlete. He trained for years but couldn't compete in the Olympics as his sport was not included in the Games. Undeterred, he created a performance that astonished the judges. "Everything has a way to work out," said An.
