The art house film, "Buddha Mountain," snapped the Best Picture Award during the 2011 Casa Asia Film Festival Week in Barcelona, Spain recently, m1905 reports.

"The director and cast members of the "Buddha Mountain" are capable of grasping the feeling of the contemporary Chinese youth. They make a real but lively story without too much didacticism," one of jury members said. "They try to leave their own tracks in this fast-developing country."

"Buddha Mountain" is a successful flick in a commercial way and in artistic value itself. Since it has been screened from March, the film has grossed nearly 80 million yuan (about $1.25 million) in ticket sales.

Directed by female director, Li Yu and starring Fang Bingbing, Sylvia Chang and Chen Bo-Lin, the project infuses new blood into Chinese art house films.

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing won the Best Actress Award at the 23rd Tokyo International Film Festival, which is her first international award.
