Turkish drama "Hayde Bre" was named Best Feature Film at the Shanghai International Film Festival's Golden Goblet Awards on Sunday.

The jury selected it for its "stark, honest and unflinching look at a mother dealing with a modern world and her separation from her rural background, a woman caught up in a changing world and the painful struggle she faces."

The film's leading actor, Sevket Emrulla, also won the award for Best Actor for his "perfect, simple but full of meaning" performance. Emrulla could not receive the award in person because he recently had to undergo surgery.

The second-biggest winner of the night was Chinese film "The Young Man Sings Folk Song in the Opposite Door." The film, written and directed by Zhang Ming, was recognized for its screenplay, music score and leading actress, Lu Xingchen.

Another big winner was Chinese film "Mr. Tree," which won Best Director and the Jury Grand Prix.

"It is a very, very tough job to be a director," Han Jie said in his acceptance speech. "It can even lead to a split personality. So I have to keep myself under control."

Thai noir comedy "Friday Killer" received the Jury Award and Best Cinematography award. Director Yuthlert Sippapak said he "did not expect anything" from the festival.

Sunday's ceremony marked the end of this year's film festival. During the nine-day festival, 16 films competed for the coveted Golden Goblet Awards. More than 300 films were screened in 24 theaters all over the city, most of which were foreign and did not get wide release in Chinese mainland cinemas.
