One of the most profitable Chinese crime thrillers now has a sequel.

"Overheard 2", put together by the co-directors of the first film, and featuring the same cast, tells an unrelated story however.

As a newly-released trailer shows, the sequel is a spellbinding story involving a wiretapped stock mogul in Hong Kong, the wiretapper and a police officer. Street bombs and exciting car chases add to the tense storyline.

Lau Ching-wan plays the stock mogul, with Daniel Wu and Louis Koo as the wiretapper and the police officer, respectively.

Alan Mak and Felix Chong have co-directed the film which is due for general release on August 18.

The first "Overheard" film opened to financial success in July 2009, raking in 110 million yuan (US$17 million), making it one of the best-selling Chinese crime thrillers in recent years.
