Joe Hisaishi, the revered Japanese composer, conductor and pianist, has returned to Beijing and is set to perform in the Chinese capital hoping to raise funds for charity.

Hisaishi arrived in Beijing on Wednesday to prepare for his concert scheduled for Saturday, July 9 at the National Indoor Stadium.

He told local media that Beijing is the fifth and the last stop of his concert tour, which has been raising funds for children affected by the earthquake that rocked Japan earlier this year. He has already played in Poland's Krakow, Japanese cities of Tokyo and Osaka, and Paris of France.

Hisaishi says his Beijing repertoire will include the scores he composed for Hayao Miyazaki's films, for which he is best known. Audiences will also hear a live performance of the piece he wrote for Chinese director Jiang Wen's blockbuster film, "Let the Bullets Fly".

Joe Hisaishi played in Beijing in mid-November, 2010 at the National Center for the Performing Arts, where he conducted the center's Concert Hall Orchestra for two nights, receiving standing ovations from the audience.
