The Odessa international film festival began Friday in the Ukrainian Black sea port city with ambitions of becoming a major film event.
Event organizers believe the Odessa film festival already is one of the main film forums in Eastern Europe. The second edition of the festival expects more than 1,000 professional film-makers to visit.
The nine-day festival also was expected to attract some 60,000 visitors and 100 films will be shown.
The festival's jury will be headed by the well-known Polish actor and director Jerzy Stuhr.
