A host of stars from entertainment and sports circles will take part in the sports themed film "Running for Fate" (Pao Chu Yi Pian Tian) in an effort to promote the 2012 Olympic Games.
The production company responsible for the project held a launch ceremony on October 25 in Beijing.
Director Li Yuan was present at the event alongside the film's leading actors Yang Mi, Tian Liang, Mickey He, Du Chun Liu Xuan and Qiwei.
The film revolves around a boy born into a sporting family who overcomes various hardships to eventually control his own destiny.
The up-and-coming actress Yang Mi is set to play the role of a helpful fairy that enlightens the boy, while the diving champion Tian Liang will portray a track coach.
Arthur Wong, the man who once photographed a series of well-acclaimed projects including "Painted Skin", "Body Guards and Assassins" and "The Warlords", has been recruited as director of photography. Wong was absent from the event due to commitments for his ongoing film "Painted Skin 2" in Tibet.
Producer Mu Xiaoyong promised that all box office revenues will go towards buying sports equipment and facilities for teenagers in poverty-stricken areas.
The film is expected to be screened as a tribute to the 2012 Olympic Games during the summer holiday slot in 2012.
