"Under the Hawthorn Tree" actress Zhou Dongyu has a lot of tears to shed in her new film.

Zhou joins Aarif Lee to portray one of the three sad love stories of Barbara Wong's film "The Allure of Tears". The other two stories are fleshed out by Joe Chen and Shawn Dou, as well as Gigi Leung and Richie Ren.

A recently released trailer has many scenes of the actors crying. Zhou said she frequently got puffy eyes during the filming process, adding that "the crying scenes are very difficult to portray."

The film is slated for release on December 22.
