John Woo's next film focuses on a ship known as the "Chinese Titanic", his longtime directing partner Terrance Chang says.

The film tells a love story that takes place on a steamer named Taiping, which collided with another vessel on its journey from Shanghai to Taiwan in 1949, causing nearly 1,000 deaths.

Mainland star Zhang Ziyi and South Korean actress Soon Hye-kyo will lead the cast, says Chang, who has recently co-founded a new agency named ATN Talent Management Ltd with Hong Kong telecommunications company PCCW and Tomson Films.
