The nominees for this year's China Film Directors' Guild (CFDG) Award were recently announced. Twenty five movies will enter the first round of evaluation. They will compete for eight guild awards on offer, chineseflims.cn reports.

The nominees include big-budget projects as well as small-scale productions. "Let the Bullets Fly," "If You Are the One 2," "The Flowers of War" and "Love is Not Blind," all of which grossed box office revenues of more than 350 million RMB (about $ 57 million), are among the nominations.

The genres of the nominated films range from comedy, romance, war epic, art house cinema, black comedy, documentary and red-themed films.

The favorites of foreign film festivals, including "Buddha Mountain," "The Piano in a Factory, " "Kora," "Love for Life" and "Hello! Mr. Tree", also feature among the nomination list.

Based on a true story, the red-themed movie "Yang Shanzhou" has also been nominated by the committee. The movie topped the mainland box office chart during its release.

During the next stage of the selection process, 300 members of the committee will watch the 25 movies together and decide which films to select as finalists for the eight awards on offer.
