The summer release date of "Windseeker" was announced yesterday at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, Mtime.com reports
On August 10, a "blind" Tony Leung will shine on the silver screen in the film directed by Siu Fai Mak and Felix Chong. The story is based on a chapter from the novel "An Suan," which already has been adapted for television.
In "Windseeker," Leung plays He Bing, a blind hooligan living in Shanghai, who was born with a pair of quick and sharp ears. He is precisely the wizard whom the special agent Zhang Xuening, played by Zhou Xun, is searching for to fulfill her mission. It is the second time that Leung and Zhou have co-starred in a film following "The Great Magician."
"Actually, Feng Xiaogang was the first actor that came to mind while I was thinking about who could play He Bing," Chong said, adding he was greatly impressed by Feng's short but eye-catching performance in "In the Heat of the Sun."
Chong also talked about Zhou Xun's role in the film.
"Zhang Xuening, unlike other female agents, uses her affection to acquire information," he said, a reference to her portrayal of an agent she previously played in "The Message."
