Zhang Yuqi, the 26-year-old actress, will become a sensation of China's cinemas as the epic movie "White Deer Plain" got release license from the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television on March 31 after all these twists and turns.
The actress, who previously appeared in a cameo role in Stephen Chow's 2008 blockbuster "CJ 7," is reaching the peak of her carrer. She portrays a peasant woman who is abandoned by her husband for adultery and becomes entangled with several other men.
Zhang has grabbed the media's attention not only for her nudity in the movie but also for her marriage to famous director Wang Quan'an last year.
It has been 10 years since Xi'an Film Corporation announced it would adapt the original novel into a movie. "White Deer Plain" was approved by government film censors nearly a year after director Quan'an Wang finished shooting it.
Quan said in a previous interview that he felt extremely calm when he received the release license. "I finally accomplished the thing I've pursued for seven years," he said. "And the reason for me to make movies is to have inner peace."
Wang Le, the movie's producer, said "White Deer Plain" would likely be released during the National Day holiday slot.
