Film pioneer Chen Qiang dies at 94

Famous actor Chen Qiang , one of the pioneers of modern China's film industry, died at the Beijing Anzhen Hospital on Tuesday at 21:38. He was 94.

Chen Qiang starred in 43 films, the best-known of which are "The White-Haired Girl" and "The Red Detachment of Women."

He had been awarded the very first Golden Rooster and the Hundred Flowers Award and later went on to become one of the top 22 film stars in modern China.

Chen Qiang's most representative works are "He Beauty in the Picture," "The Red Detachment of Women," "What a Family," "Erzi kai dian" and "Father and Son's Car".

Over the past six months, Chen Peisi, Chen Qiang's son, took care of his elderly father until the legendary actor passed away late Tuesday evening.
