The domestic release of Chinese director Wang Quan'an's award-winning film "White Deer Plain" has been postponed, according to local media.
The news came two days before the film's planned release on September 13.
Sohu.com cited the distribution company Huaxia as saying the postponement was due to technical reasons, and once the problem is fixed, a new date will be announced.
All planned press conferences and previews of the film have been canceled.
A premiere ceremony was held in Beijing days before the postponement.
Adapted from Chen Zhongshi's award-winning novel of the same name, "White Deer Plain" revolves around the feuds lasting decades between two families. The film originally contained explicit sex scenes, but director Wang had made cuts to ensure it suits all audiences.
The film was a Golden Bear nominee at this year's Berlin International Film Festival. It eventually won the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Achievement.
