Quentin Tarantino's slavery era western film "Django Unchained" dominated a pack of 75 tunes which were named to compete for the best original song honor in the 85th Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Tuesday.

Four numbers of the film -- "Ancora Qui," "Freedom," "100 Black Coffins" and "Who Did That to You?" -- were chosen by the Academy as possible contenders for the honor.

Other contenders include Ryan O'Nan's comedy "Brooklyn Brothers Beat the Best," Spanish-language comedy "Casa De Mi Padre," Illumination Entertainment's animated comedy "Dr. Seuss' The Lorax" and Todd Graff's musical "Joyful Noise."

"Ice Age Continental Drift," "Brave" and "Snow White and the Huntsman" each won two mentions.

"Skyfall," the 23rd installment of the iconic James Bond franchise which features a theme song by singer Adele, Tom Hooper's musical drama "Les Miserables," Peter Jackson's latest fantasy film "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" and Katy Perry's 3-D documentary-concert film "Katy Perry: Part of Me" were also named as possible nominees out of 60 films.

The nominations will be announced on Jan. 10 at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater. The winner will be made public at the 85th Academy Awards ceremony held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Feb. 24.
