Dior, the legacy

Another standout leader of the Dior pack included my personal favorite (design-wise, not in any other controversial way) wonder-wild-child John Galliano, who, shall we just say, more than made up for that so-called previous lack of experimentation. Watch his shows and you will get it:

Class, quality, and admittedly a dash of dare and a lining of controversy every now and then. Dior has arrived in Beijing and will not disappoint. Curator Florence Mullen has selected 100 dresses divided into 10 categories, both 'live' on display as well as in photo, for us to swoon over.

All you Beijing-based lovers of the chic couture clique, make your way to the National Museum at Subway Line 1 Tiananmen East stop to admire the bravura of Dior's 100 finest. You will likely feel an occasional twinge of melancholy as the collection makes you yearn for a long-lost elegance; however, you'll be accompanied by such undimmed stars as Marilyn Monroe in a backless black Dior number, which she wore during one of her last shoots before her tragic death in August 1962, Marlene Dietrich, Grace Kelly, and so on (fashion's best dressed-list of all time continues).

I think it's safe to say that Victoria and Dior share one thing in common: They both know how to seduce their audience.

Fashionistas United:

Looking seductive can mean anything from wearing sleek to sheer.

"Esprit Dior" will run at China's National Museum, Beijing, until January 16, 2013.
