"Cloud Atlas" explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance intertwine dramatically all through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.

Lana and Andy Wachowski and Tom Tykwer, directors of "Cloud Atlas," were in Beijing to attend the film's Chinese premiere, their last chance with the mixed-reviewed and commercially flopped film. They hope the karma, fate, love, nirvana and metempsychosis interpreted in the film will resonate better with Chinese audiences. "Cloud Atlas" has thus far received generally positive reviews from Chinese critics and audiences despite having infamously had cut out 40 minutes out for Chinese version.
