Grammys: Gotye, Fun., Frank Ocean split top awards

Belgian-Australian alternative rocker Gotye, New York indie-pop-rock trio Fun and New Orleans R&B sensation Frank Ocean took home top awards during the 55th Annual Grammys Awards held in the Staples Center in downtown Los angeles Sunday night.

They became the biggest winners at a night when the authorties went all out in anticipation of a possible attack on officers by a fugitive former police officer.
"I feel unworthy to be up here receiving this, but thank you," Gotye, whose real name is Wouter De Backer, said when accepting the statuette in honor of his win of record of the year for "Somebody That I Used To Know."
The 32-year-old singer and song-writer also won two other awards including best alternative music album for "Making Mirrors" and pop duo/group performance for "Somebody That I Used to Know" which were presented during the pre-telecast event."Somebody That I Used to Know" shot to the top of the charts almost two years ago in more than 30 countries around the world.
Fun., which tied Kanye West, Ocean, Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons and Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys for the most nominations, took home Grammys for best new artist and song of the year for "We Are Young," which also featured Janelle Monae.
"We're so old," Fun. lead singer Nate Ruess joked when receiving the song of the year award for "We Are Young." The band then won best new artist.
Ocean won the Grammy for best urban contemporary album for "Channel Orange," beating Chris Brown two weeks after Brown was accused of punching Ocean in a parking lot dispute. He also took home best rap/sung collaboration for his work with Jay-Z, Kanye West and The-Dream on "No Church in the Wild," missing out on most of the night's biggest awards.
Mumford & Sons, the English folk rockers, garnered the prize for album of the year for "Babel," which includes the hits "I Will Wait" and "Below My Feet."
Dan Auerbach, the guitarist and lead singer of The Black Keys, fetched four awards during the night. Three of the honors were won with Patrick Carney for the Keys' latest album "El Camino," and one was awarded as producer of the year for his work on albums like Dr. John' s "Locked Down" and Grace Potter & the Nocturnals' "The Lion The Beast The Beat."
No single artist dominated the awards show like Adele did last year, Lady Antebellum in 2011 and Beyonce in 2010. Instead, several musical acts won a few awards, representing a sharp departure from recent Grammy ceremonies.
Adele, the British songstress who presented the album of the year award to Mumford & Sons, won a Grammy for best pop solo performance for "Set Fire to the Rain."
Carrie Underwood and Skrillex were among other repeat winners during the event.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) called officers who were supposed to have the day off back to duty at the extravaganza, while asking others to work overtime.
Former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner who is suspected of killing three people has a plan that could include targeting a police command post at a major incident, such as the nationally-telecast Grammy broadcast, John Miller, now a senior correspondent at CBS News, said on the "CBS Morning News."
Los Angeles police announced a reward of 1 million U.S. dollars for information leading to the capture of the fugitive.
