Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen recently revealed that he has been approached to play the lead role in the upcoming sequel to Lee Ang's martial arts epic "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", reported Hong Kong media.

"I will of course think about it, but there are two things that make me hesitate.

"The first is that my schedule this year is very packed. The second is that the first film is already such a classic. I am afraid of the pressure, that the original cannot be surpassed," Yen told reporters.

The "Ip Man" star, who is currently busy shooting "The Iceman Cometh 3D", refused to divulge how much he had been offered to take the job, but rumours are rife that the figure is around HK$50 million (S$8 million).

"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", which starred Michelle Yeoh, Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and Hong Kong actor Chow Yun Fat, was based on the fourth book in Chinese writer Wang Du Lu's "Crane-Iron" series of books.

Its sequel will apparently be based on the final book in Wang's pentalogy, "Iron Knight-Silver Vase".

The sequel is expected to be completed in 2014.
