The artists from the Harbin Normal University were invited to perform at the Brigade No. 70 of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces at the outskirts of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia on Monday. The event was organized by the Confucius Institute at the Royal Academy of Cambodia.

The performance was viewed by Mao Sophann, commander of the Brigade No. 70 of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and Wang Ximao, military attach of Chinese Embassy to Cambodia, as well as about 500 military personnel and their families. "This event is very good to further enhance cultural tie between China and Cambodia,"Mao Sophann said."Through it, Cambodian people will learn more about Chinese culture."

Meanwhile, he also spoke highly of very good relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China in all fields, especially in politics, economics, trade, investment, tourism, culture and education.

He also thanked the Confucius Institute for providing Chinese language courses to troops at his unit.

Chea Monirith, Cambodian director of the Confucius Institute, said the artists performed a series of Chinese traditional songs, dances and performances in order to join with Cambodian people in celebrating the upcoming Khmer New Year. "Also, the event is to promote and exchange cultures between China and Cambodia," he said, adding that the group will continue to perform at the Asia-Euro University in the capital on Tuesday.
