The Chinese film "Singing When We're Young" ("Chu Lian Wei Man"), which depicts six young people who deal with pressure before the Chinese college entrance examination or Gaokao, will open in domestic cinemas on Thursday, July 4.

Set in 1997, the film features hit songs from the 1980s and '90s.

Veteran actor Andy Lau is the film's executive producer. Lau has produced and invested in the film under his project that aims to discover new directing talent.

Liu Juan, who directed the film as her feature-length debut, won the Jury Prix at the Asian New Talent Awards at this year's Shanghai International Film Festival.

The film stars Zhang Hanyun, Ran Xu and Dai Xu.
