Sotheby's is holding its largest ever event in China this coming Thursday, November 28.
The ambitious Beijing Art Week will be bringing a US$20-million auction of Modern and Contemporary Chinese art to the capital.
Featured amongst the lot is late Chinese-French artist Zao Wou-ki's piece "Abstraction".
The work, which is currently being held by the Art Institute of Chicago, hails from Zao's "oracle bone period" when the artist's work was heavily influenced by Chinese bone inscriptions.
Elsewhere amongst the lot will be some 140 odd paintings, including contemporary ink art as well as Chinese "New Wave" from the 80s and 90s.
The four-day event also includes a private preview of a cherry-picked selection from the New York Important Old Master Paintings, which will include works by Rembrandt, Picasso and Rodin.
An exhibition of European jewels with royal provenance will also be held, featuring a pearl and diamond brooch formerly belonging to Empress Eugenie of France.
Sotheby's Beijing Art Week will run from November 28 to December 1 at the China World Summit Wing Hotel.
