"Personal Tailor," the latest comedy from popular director Feng Xiaogang, ruled China's box office, grossing 330 million yuan (54.35 million U.S. dollars) in four days, according to a film industry weekly.

The comedy was shown on about 200,000 screens, with 9.45 million admissions during the period, according to China Film News on Tuesday.

The comedy, which hit the screens on Dec. 19, brings audiences the story of a group of four who run a company helping people to live out their fantasies.

Although mostly known for comedies, Feng has explored serious subjects in recent years, such as the deadly 1976 Tangshan earthquake and the great famine that struck central China's Henan Province in 1942.

"Firestorm," a Hong Kong action film which ranked first in the previous week, was second in the chart for Dec.16-22, taking 272.7 million yuan since its debut on Dec. 12.

"No Man's Land," a Chinese film directed by Ning Hao, came in third, taking in 29 million yuan during the week.
