Stars congratulate Liao Fan for Silver Bear win

Fresh from winning the Silver Bear, the top acting prize at the Berlin Film Festival, the Chinese actor Liao Fan received a hero's welcome in Beijing on Monday.

He won the award for his role in the Chinese movie "Black Coal, Thin Ice" in which he plays a former detective trying to get to the bottom of a serial killer case which continues to haunt him.
The thriller, directed by Diao Yinan, also won the prize for best film, the Golden Bear.
Liao held a press conference Monday, at which many stars including Yao Chen, Zhou Xun, Li Binging and Zhang Hanyu sent videos to congratulate him.
Yao Chen said it meant a lot to other Chinese actors. Yao said, "Liao Fan is very picky with roles that he acts in. Thank you for getting such an award because this honor motivates those who are still sticking to the art to a large extent. "
Also the Chinese director Meng Jinghui, who has worked with Liao a number of times, congratulated him on his bravery. Liao said, "Liao Fan all this comes from your bravery, your courage and your perseverance so if bravery is the most noble word you should keep on with it."
No official release date for "Black Coal, Thin Ice" has been announced but it's expected at some point next month (March).
