Justin Bieber visited the controversial Yasukuni Shrine in Japan and in doing so managed to alienate millions of Chinese fans.

He wrote the Instagram caption "Thank you for your blessings" which got 378,853 likes as of 1:11 p.m. on April 23, Beijing time.

Why the 20-year-old Canadian singer chose this particular time to visit Japan's shrine to its class-A war criminals remains unknown.
