He had been nominated in three categories, including the World's Best Male Artist, Best Video and Best Entertainer of the Year.

Before receiving his award, he performed his hit single "Clown Mask" from his second solo album "Wild Cursive" at the WMA ceremony.

The talented 30-year-old singer and dancer gained international acclaim by winning Best Worldwide Act at the MTV Europe Awards in 2012.

He used to be a member of South Korean boy band Super Junior, gaining popularity across Asia in 2005. In 2009, he terminated his contract with South Korea-based SME Entertainment and embarked on a solo career. He released his first solo album "Geng Xin" in 2010.

The young man studied dance and martial arts from a young age and is skilled in Chinese ethnic dance, ballet and hip-hop.

As an actor, he starred in Chinese actress Zhao Wei's directorial debut "So Young" in 2013, and was chosen by American director Michael Bay to join the cast of "Transformers: Age of Extinction" that same year.

Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus, Ricky Martin and Leona Lewis also presented at this year's WMA.

The World Music Awards were founded by Prince Albert II of Monaco in 1989.
