Magnolia Awards announced at 20th Shanghai TV Fest

As the film festival gets underway, the 20th Shanghai TV Festival has lowered its curtain. Domestic family drama "If by Life You Were Deceived" took the golden award for best TV series. While American crime drama "Breaking Bad" took the top award for the Magnolia Best Foreign TV series.

Filmmaker Liu Jiang won the best director award for romantic series "Marry Me." Sun Li won the best actress award for her depiction of an independent mother in "Hot Mom!" while the best actor award went to Wang Zhiwen for his role in "May-December Love."

CCTV's hit show "A Bite of China" took home the top award for documentaries. Actor Giancarlo Esposito, who played drug lord Gus Fring in American crime drama “Breaking Bad,” collects the best foreign TV series award won by the show.

South Korean TV series "My Love from the Star," which has been hugely popular in China and South Korea, won the silver award.
