Someone has stolen nude photos of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and posted them online.

Her spokesperson says Lawrence's phone was hacked.

The spokesperson has issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, calling it "a flagrant violation of privacy".

The statement also says the authorities will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos.

As many as 60 nude photos of the actress have already been posted online.

Lawrence is not the first celebrity to suffer this kind of embarassment.

In 2011, more than 50 female celebrities were targeted in a serious hacking incident which drew the FBI to investigate.

The hacker was later arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
