Award-winning film director Wang Quan’an was busted last week for sleeping with a prostitute, Beijing police announced today.

The Legal Evening News said Wang Quan’an, who won a Golden Bear for best director at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2007 for “Tuya’s Marriage,” was caught by police with a 31-year-old woman surnamed Lu in an apartment in the city’s Dongcheng District on September 10 after receiving an anonymous tip.

According to police, Wang admitted to having sex with Lu in her “studio” and paying her 800 yuan (US$130.32).

He also revealed he had paid for sex on three straight days beginning on September 8. On the second day he had sex with two women at the same time, the report said, citing police.

Police also detained an 18-year-old woman surnamed Liu for introducing the director to six prostitutes, the report said.

Wang’s 2010 film "Apart Together,” which he directed and co-wrote, opened the Berlin International Film Festival. It won the festival’s best screenplay award.

He married Chinese actress Zhang Yuqi in April 2011.
