The hit global reality show "Big Brother" will launch on the Chinese mainland in early next year.
Entertainment trade publication Variety is reporting that a deal between Dutch production company Endemol and Chinese streaming video giant Youku Tudou will bring the "Big Brother" reality format to China for the first time.
With the deal, it will also be the first time that the show is being offered exclusively on a video platform, rather than on a traditional broadcaster.
According to Youku Tudou, the video site has roughly 500 million active users.
Ten episodes are planned for the first season of the Chinese version of "Big Brother," which will air weekly either Friday or Saturday on Youku -- a video service similar to Netflix.
To date, 25 versions of "Big Brother" have been produced and aired across 70 countries and regions.
