Renowned Chinese director Zhang Yimou's next film, "The Great Wall," will be his first predominantly English-speaking feature.

The language for the upcoming historical action feature was revealed, along with its 135 million U.S. dollar budget, earlier this week by Legendary Pictures' Asian subsidiary, Legendary East at the U.S.-China Film Summit in Los Angeles.

Legendary East CEO Peter Loehr says that the film "will be made for a world audience," aiming to create a "large, very visual picture."

The director is no stranger to big-budget titles, having directed 2011's "The Flowers of War," the most expensive Chinese production to date.

"The Great Wall" is a period-action epic with sci-fi elements.
