Renowned director John Woo's period epic, "The Crossing", is slated for release in IMAX in China when it makes its mainland opening on December 2.

The film will be released in two parts, hitting most Asian markets in 3D, with 2D versions of the film hitting foreign markets some time next year.

"The Crossing" tells the story of people's lives that are forever impacted during the revolutionary period precluding the formation of the People's Republic of China.

The film is helmed by a pan-Asian cast of stars, which include Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, Chinese-Japanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiro and Korean actress Song Hye-kyo.
