Then, switching to a more serious tone, Kong said they would start in-depth cooperation with certain Hollywood visual effects companies, while director Zhang Fanfan said he has prepared for "Three Body" for years. Zhang reported he has read the stories many times and has been learning about green screen visual effect filming technology. Kong also revealed there are 50 screen writers participating in the film version creation, saying that "some of them are professional screen writers, some of them are hard-core fans."

Liu Cixin also offered some comfort to fans. "You see, American science fiction movies are so popular now, but at the time when George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and James Cameron started doing sci-fi movies and opened an era, they were young and had wild imaginations which were not accepted by many people then. They were not mainstream when they started their career. So I can see the same thing from the team of young people at Yoozoo Pictures. I have faith in them."

Liu Cixin previously told Blog Weekly Magazine that he actually sent the novel "Three Body" to an internationally famous big name director (Liu didn't say who), but the director didn't show any interest.

"Three Body" will also be developed into an online TV series, a cartoon, an online game, a play and a line of merchandise, executives at Yoozoo Pictures said.

The first volume in Liu's "Three Body" trilogy was published in English in the United States by Tor Books on Nov. 11, 2014 under the title "The Three-Body Problem." It is the first Chinese science fiction novel translated into English. The series was awarded the Galaxy Award, China's top honor for science fiction.

Several of Liu's other science fiction works will also be adapted into movies. According to China Film Group, the movie version of "The Wandering Earth" will have a budget of US$50 million and "Micro Era" will have a budget of US$40 million, while "The Era of Supernova" will get US$60 million. The movie version of Liu’s "The Rural Teacher" is to be directed by Ning Hao, whose new film "Breakup Buddies" has grossed 1.16 billion yuan and become one of China’s highest-grossing movies ever.
