Smith had this to say about being up for best new artist, song and record of the year for his hit "Stay With Me."

"It's just unbelievable, to get that recognition from the Grammys is incredible. For me, the Grammys is, when they say something - that your song is good or your album is good - it means that they're saying that your album is a timeless piece of work."

Beyonce is not up for song or record of the year. Her nominations include best urban contemporary album for her fifth album as well as R&B song and R&B performance for "Drunk in Love." For song and record of the year, Smith's "Stay With Me" will battle Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off," Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" and Sia's "Chandelier."

The Grammy Awards will air live February 8 from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
