News has been spreading across the internet that Qu Wanting, a 31-year-old Chinese pop singer is dating Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson.
"According to extremely reliable sources (this is not gossip), he is currently seeing Wanting Qu, a 31-year-old Chinese popular-music star who has a lot of buzz in Vancouver," veteran civic affairs journalist Frances Bula posted on her blog on Tuesday.
Robertson, 50, is a distant relative of the Canadian doctor Norman Bethune. He annouced his split from his wife Amy last July. They have four adult children.
Qu Wanting, simply known as Wanting, was born and raised in China but she moved to Vancouver in her teens. She was the first Chinese artist to be signed to the Nettwerk label.
In 2013, she was appointed as Vancouver's first ever tourism ambassador in mainland China.
As of now, Wanting has given no response to the news, while her assistant indicated that the two were just good friends.
