Crazy New Year's EVE, or Yi-Lu-Jing-Xi in Chinese, directed by Eva Jin, is hitting big screens in China today (on Friday).

At the premiere Thursday afternoon in Beijing, the director explained the initiative of making such a film days ahead of Spring Festival.

"I think the best plot for a movie during the Spring Festival movie season is having all its stories occurring on New Year's EVE, a day that is the most possible for all dramatic situations to take place. And I also believe if we only focus on one family, it wouldn't represent the festival's celebrations across the whole of China. That's why I use six short stories to depict different interesting characters."

Crazy New Year's EVE would interpret the meaning of Spring Festival, a deeply-rooted tradition for Chinese people through various interesting, but unexpected happenings on several characters' journeys back to their home for family reunion.

This movie stars a list of heavyweights in pop circle across the Straits, including Taiwan actress Amber Kuo, Taiwan singer-actor Jam Hsiao, Taiwan-British film actor, Rhydian Vaughan and rising Chinese mainland actor Sun Yizhou and actress Zhao Liying.

Earlier when the movie was premiered in Shanghai and Chengdu, it was well received by all audience members.
