Liu Qiangdong, founder and CEO of the online sales giant JD group, might have got engaged to his girlfriend Zhang Zetian, qq.com reported on Monday.

Liu posted a photo with a ring on his ring finger on Feb. 16, 2015.

Speculation was aroused when Liu posted a photo of himself with a ring on the correct finger for an engagement earlier today on his Wechat Moments, saying "at this moment in my life, the happiest thing is having you… the best birthday gift…" Feb. 14, Valentine's Day, is Liu's birthday.

The post got a "like" from someone using the name of "Xiaotian Zhang", which is close to his girlfriend's name.

Rumors about a break-up had circulated recently on the Internet after Liu deleted a blog expressing his loyalty to his girlfriend on Jan. 3, and his girlfriend deleted all her blogs on the same day.

On Jan. 5, JD.com released a statement denying Liu had paid his girlfriend 30 million Yuan (about US$4.82 million) after they broke up. The statement also denied rumors that the couple broke up because of an investigation of a certain senior Chinese official.

On Jan. 25, the couple was seen visiting a temple in Thailand together that seemed to suggest reconciliation.

Zhang Zetian became an online sensation in 2009 after a photo showing her holding a cup of milk tea went viral on China's social media, earning her the nickname the "milk tea girl."

The two met at Columbia University in 2013 when Zhang was studying as an exchange student from Tsinghua University.
