A new documentary about the anti-Fascist history in Australia during World War II has been released.

The documentary recalls the story of port laborers who refused to load iron on to ships which would eventually be used to make weapons for the Japanese army during its invasion of China.

Around 700 people turned out for the premiere of the documentary in Australia.

"I was born in 1938 and, therefore, it's sort of a memory for me as well. I believe that a lot of lessons can be learned from this, especially after the Second World War, when that started,"

Director Sandra Pires spent 4-years working on the film, shooting in both Australia and China.

Her film also includes testimony from survivors of the Nanjing massacre.
